Letter from Benjamin Smith Lyman to J. Peter Lesley
Description:
Lyman discusses Mr. Lesley's request for a "geological reconnaissance" to be undertaken near Connellsville, which he should be able to accomplish during a previously scheduled trip to the area to examine coal and copper tracts. Lyman looks forward to hearing one of Lesley's recently successful lectures, and notes the brevity of the meeting of the Academy of Natural Sciences, at which the only thing of interest was a chalk sample from Colorado Territory.
