Black painted leather fire helmet with eight ridges. Raised ivy design round the brim. Extensive stitching, fastened on each side by thin strip and small bolts. Large leather patch on front reads "Headquarters, Aide, Newton" in red painted letters and attached by small bolts. Front ridge has metal sheathing attached by small bolts with curved design etched into metal. Small ring attached to underside of brim by metal strips and 2 small bolts. Number along front of sheathing: "No. 1,889,587" Item was on display in Jackson Homestead basement until 2025.
