Description:
A Resolution from the Massachusetts House of Representatives expressing outrage at the assault on 'a twenty-nine year old black man by certain people who claimed they were present to peacefully demonstrate against court ordered busing.' The Resolution is referring to the assault of black attorney Ted Landsmark by students protesting court-ordered busing in City Hall Plaza on April 5, 1976. The incident was captured in a Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph by Stanley Forman entitled 'The Soiling of Old Glory.' The House of Representatives Resolution was adopted by Thomas W. McGee, Speaker of the House, Wallace C. Mills, Clerk of the House, and offered by William George Robinson, State Representative.
