Scrapbook - Arlington news clippings - 1900-1955 - 20 pages, brown cover - About Arlington news programs & notebooks Medium sized book with a moderately plain brown cover, with the wordd "Scrap Book" written in the center, and with a geometric black border stamped around the edge. The left hand edge is all black, and the book is bound with a piece of black string. Includes several articles about events by the Arlington Historical Society. The first few pages are about "The Ladies of Crawford", a play produced in 1900, with many of the sets and props taken from the Historical Society's collection. Also includes a invitation to the Historical Society's 10th anniversary, with old styled spelling. There is also a copy of the program for the 25th anniversary of the Historical Society, which was a production of the play "Then and Now", written by Herbert Russell Peirce about Arlington History, as well as a newspaper article documenting the event. There is also a series of seven articles documenting "Industries along Sucker Brook", although the first article is missing; a poem read at the Arlington Historical Society in 1930 is included; obituaries for Mrs. Lucinda F. Spofford; and an advertisement to vote for a new high school on the Schouler Court Site. There are also some articles from the 1950s about the protests against the relocation of Route 3, and Arlington's response to damage from Hurrican Diane in 1955. There is also an article about the belfry of the Calvary Methodist Episcopal Church, an article about the razing of a historical mansion at 208 Pleasant Street, and a photo of snow covered Arlington Heights. Documents in the scrapbook date from 1900 - 1955, although most of the articles are from the 1950s. Pages are wrinkled with numerous glue dots, but binding is in good condition. Several blank pages in back.
