George Caldwell in track suit inside Curry Hicks Cage
Description:
George B. Caldwell (Class of 1944) poses in his track suit inside the Curry Hicks Cage. He attended Massachusetts State College for three years before leaving to own and operate the Caldwell Poultry Farm in Littlefield, Massachusetts. He was then a purchasing director for 24 years with New England Apple Products in Littleton before retiring in 1990. In addition, as an avid marathon runner, Mr. Caldwell was the only participant to run in both the 50th and 100th Boston Marathons in 1946 and 1966. He passed away in July 2006 at the age of 84. "George B. Caldwell '44 Capt. X country" written on label on back. Photo provided by Joseph Bornstein (Class of 1944), who left the University briefly to fight in the war then returned to graduate in 1947.
