Formal portrait of Samuel Howard Richmond, Class of 1871. He went on to work at various times as a civil engineer, bookkeeper, farmer, teacher and also studied medicine for a year. Eventually he settled in Florida as a farmer and a surveyor for the Florida East Coast Railway. In 1896, he erected a balloon frame residence in Cutler, Florida which in 1913 became part of the Charles Deering Estate and where it can still be seen. "Samuel H. Richmond, Class of '71" signed on back. "M.A.C. Collection, Library of the Massachusetts Agricultural College, Amherst, Mass." stamped on back. Logo of "J.L. Lovell" printed on back.
