In this oral history interview conducted by son Joel Halpern, Carl Halpern focuses on his memories of the Electro Chemical Company where he worked from 1917-1965. The interview begins with Carl talking about people who worked in the factory, seniority, relations between management and workers, support of family members working together and resolving conflicts within the family of workers. He notes the distinction between jobs that were more suited for men and for women. Finally, he describes his style of management, his emphasis on safety and the different departments in the plant.
