Formal portrait of Martin Heald Fisk, an instructor at Massachusetts Agricultural College in 1870. He was a civil engineer with the Ohio and Miss. RR before becoming president of Paducah College in Kentucky, which was burned by Confederate troops during the later part of his tenure (1854-1862). After spending an academic year at Mass Aggie, he went on to become principal at two high schools. He passed away in 1908. "M. H. Fisk" handwritten on back. "M.A.C Collection" and "Library of the Massachusetts Agricultural College, Amherst, Mass" stamped on back. Photographer's logo also printed on back.
