Formal portrait of H. T. Fernald mounted on 29 x 20 cm. mat board. Typed biographical information is pasted on the back, but is only partially correct, confusing him with his father. Dr. Fernald came to M.A.C. in 1899 as the first Professor of Entomology, and worked along side his father, C. H. Fernald. Like his father, he was a well-known entomologist and served in multiple roles including Associate Entomologist for the Experiment Station, taking over as Entomologist upon his father's retirement in 1910, head of the Entomology Department, Chairman of the Division of Science, and Director of the Graduate School from 1927 until his retirement in 1933.
