This shallow square basket with a hinged lid was woven from pink and green-dyed ash splints alternating with braided sweetgrass. A splint ring attached at the front of the lid forms the closure. The lips of the lid and basket are formed from bunched sweetgrass lashed in place with an ash splint. The base is formed from green-dyed splints in a checker weave. This box is of Native American manufacture, most likely for the tourist souvenir trade.
