The image verso is inscribed "Rangeley Hall built by David Nelson Skillings on lower side lawn of E.D. Bangs, his Rangeley property, for community school house and social hall. Miss Mary Pickard Winsor was teacher in this school. Torn down about 1905-06. Property of Lesley Wilcox." An architectural drawing in the October 19, 1878 issue of "American architect and building news" is captioned "D.N. Skillings, Esq., Kindergarten at Rangeley Place, Winchester, Mass. J.F. Ober & Geo.D. Rand, architects, Boston."
