Notes:
They are participating in the Chestnut Hunt, an annual Springfield College event held in October. On this day, classes are canceled and the students travel to the hills in order to gather chestnuts and apples. Although they originally rode in an ice wagon to the base of Wilbraham Hills, the students began taking a car in 1903. In 1906, the Chestnut Hunt was moved to Mount Tom in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The Chestnut Hunt is only referenced in The Association Seminar between 1901 and 1907, and it seems likely that the tradition was soon discontinued.
