<mods:abstract>A photograph of a men’s hockey team at Springfield College. All of the men shown are members of the graduating class of 1904. According to a note on the container, this is a “Middler’s team.” Middler was a term used to describe the middle graduating class when Springfield College only offered a three-year program. Based on this note, we believe the photograph was taken in the 1902-1903 academic year. The members of the team were George Pineo, Frederick Henckle, Edward Elliot, Roy Seymour, John Gray, Herbert Moule, William Lewis, and Charles Rea. Currently the college acknowledges the sport as a club sport. The team is sitting on the East Gymnasium stairs of Judd Gymnasia.</mods:abstract>
