The Fifth Catalogue of The School for Christian Workers for the academic year 1889-1990 with prospectus for 1890-91. This is the last Catalog before the YMCA Training School split from the School for Christian Workers. The next catalog will be for the YMCA Training School, though it will, like the School for Christian Workers, maintain the numbering and will call itself the sixth catalog. The Table of Contents appear on the inside cover. Next is the academic Calendar for the sixth school year 1890-1891 followed by the Corporation including Trustees, statements on the Design/purpose and Control of the School, list of Instructors in the General Course and in Special Schools, and the list of Seniors and Juniors, 1888-1889. The next sections are the General Course of Instruction, One Year’s Course for College Men (see below), The YMCA Training School with subsections titled The Secretarial Department and Department Course of Study per year followed by Special Lectures and Conferences, the YMCA Training School with subsections titled The Gymnasium Department and Department Course of Study per year, and the Training School for Sunday-School Workers and Pastors’ Helpers with subsections on the Department Course of Study per year and Special Lectures. The remaining sections are Terms of Admission, Estimate of Expenses, Rooms, Promotion and Graduation, Location, and contacts for requests for General and Special Information. The one year’s course for college men was arranged for 1889-1890 for those embracing the general course and the special work of the department. Additionally, on the reverse side of the title page the sketch of the building with descriptive information including the cost and fact that it is free from debt is accompanied by three important dates: “organized November 25, 1884; Incorporated January 28, 1885; and, School opened September 8, 1885.
