The Third Catalogue of The School for Christian Workers published in April 1, 1888 (2nd ed.). The contents begin with the academic Calendar for the fourth school year, 1888-1889, followed by a list of Officers, the Corporation including Trustees, statements of the Design/purpose and Control of the School, list of Instructors in the General Course, Instructors in the Special Schools, Summer School for Gymnasium Instructors, and list of Seniors and Juniors, 1887-1888. The following sections include The General Course of Instruction, and a section titled The Young Men’s Christian Association Training School. The section includes a Special Course of Study for the Secretarial Department per year and Special Lectures and Conferences, and the Special Course of Study and Work for the Gymnasium Department. The next section is titled The Training School for Sunday-School Workers and Pastor’s Helpers. The Special Course of Instruction is then listed per year followed by a list of Special Lectures. The remaining sections are Terms of Admission, Expenses, Rooms, Diplomas, Location, contacts for requests for general Information, Contributions, Form of Bequest, Bequest for Endowment, Perpetual Loan Fund, The Demand for Workers in the YMCA, The Demand for Sunday-School Workers and Pastor’s Helpers, What Others Say of the YMCA Training School, About the Gymnasium Department, Testimonies from Secretaries, The Necessity of Thorough Training for the General Secretaryship, Testimony from Former Students on the Value of a Second Year in the Training School, What Others Say of the Training School for Sunday-School Workers and Pastors’ Helpers. Of historical interest and significance, is the comment introducing the section titled Young Men’s Christian Association Training School that “this School was originally known as the Y.M.C.A. Department of the School for Christian Workers.” Similarly, the introduction to the section titled The Training School for Sunday-School Workers and Pastor’s Helpers explains that “this School was formerly known as the Sunday-School Department of the School for Christian Workers.”
