One Hundred and Ninth Annual Report of the Clarke School for the Deaf, 1976
Description:
Includes the report of the chairman, principal, alumni association, parents' conference, teacher education program, guidance program, speech program, research department, treasurer, and development program. Clarke School alum Dr. H. Latham Breunig has become the President of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf. The Clarke School has always worked to prepare deaf children to join hearing students in general education and many students move on to hearing schools before graduating from the Clarke School. Dr. William G. Hardy, Professor and Director of the Division of Communication Sciences at Johns Hopkins, delivered the third annual Alexander Graham Bell Lecture titled 'Bell Resounding.' The first girls varsity basketball game was played in January. The Smith College M.E.D. Program graduated twenty-five students this year. The Center for Audiological Services provided audiological, psychological, speech, language, and education evaluation. Because of the importance of vision to hearing-impaired students, a study of the visual status of Clarke School students started in June.
