Description:
A collective farm herder drives cows along the Georgian Military Highway. Note the two forms of transport, combustion engine and horse. The truck is probably owned by the state farm. Travel by horse in the Caucasus continues into the 21st century. Horsemanship is highly valued by all Caucasian cultures and in the economic conditions of the early 21st century the horse is much cheaper now that gas prices are no longer subsidized by the state.
