Louisa offers words of comfort to Sadie, and instructs her not to worry so much. She inquires about the amount of silk needed to fix Sadie's skirt. Louisa also notes the amount of housework she has left to do, but admits she rather spend her time writing letters to Sadie than straightening up the kitchen. Louisa then talks about how she always longed to own a book of "Synonyms and Antonyms," but while glancing through the "Home Library" book, she realized there was a chapter entitled "Synonyms and Antonyms." She also tells Sadie not to feel guilty about not visiting, as she has plenty of friends to visit with. Louisa also fills Sadie in on church meetings and some gossip.
