Letter from Benjamin Smith Lyman to Franklin B. Sanborn
Description:
Lyman discusses Sanborn's reaction to the writings of Agnes Repplier and Lyman's acknowledgement of the difficulties of expansion while supporting the benefits to new citizens, himself, and the world. He mentions his trip to Boston in December for his aunt's funeral and the missed opportunity to visit Sanborn. He recounts several visits he made in the Boston area during that time including to Abbott, who shared a pamphlet about his deceased son. Later, Lyman heard Professor Fay present a paper to the geographical society on the accident that killed Abbott's son.
