Photocopied transcription of Sessions's diary detailing his experience in the 46th Regiment, and as a prisoner of war being held at Libby Prison in Richmond, Va. The 46th Mass. was a nine-months regiments raised mostly in Springfield and served in North Carolina. Sessions was captured by guerrillas while on picket duty near New Berne in May 1863. The diary covers the period from Sessions's capture until his parole in June. The 46th mustered out in July at the expiration of their term. The typescript includes an introduction by the transcriber along with biographical and genealogical information.
