The first part of the article compares railways in the United States and France in areas of luggage checking, ticketing, rail stations, passenger seating, car heating, wheel construction, and the smoothness of the ride. The second part of the article describes changes to the Imperial Mining School in Paris, and compares it to the Freiburg Mining School.
