From a series of oral histories with residents and employees of the Loomis Village Retirement Community, South Hadley, Mass., regarding their lives and experience in a retirement community. (00:00:10) Bob Bergen was former Research Scientist and Director at Uniroyal and wife; ended at Loomis by triangulating among children's location; arrived Jan. 2004. (00:02:08) Betsy Bergen was mother and grandmother, paralegal, lobbyist, senior center program director, ran crisis counseling center; work with homeless and interfaith counseling; Chaplain at Rehab center in Wallingford. (00:06:26) Role as unofficial chaplain at Loomis, working closely with Art Stanley, education; also works with buildings and grounds to beautify Loomis. (00:10:30) Work with Loomis Residents' Association in overcoming mistrust between management and residents to increase communication.
