Dalton 114 --Caption title. Width of road: 30 ft. Traveled way: width 17 ft., grade 0 ft. per 100. Surface: crowned 5 in., soft, loose sand and gravel 2 in. deep material: sand and gravel on hard gravel bed sides: right, grass embankment slopes up from gutter, left, grass embankment slopes down gradually to pond gutters: right, 9 in. deep, left, natural slope sidewalks: right, small path 8 in. wide, left, small path 8 in. wide. Remarks: Surface is very poor, but base is hard. Photograph accompanies the Report of the Commission to Improve the Highways of the Commonwealth, 1893.
