A collection of issues of the West Newton Record, later the West Newton Gazette, 1902-1906. Teenager Keith Warren edited and published this village newspaper for about four years, monthly and later weekly, from his home at 32 Lenox Street in West Newton, MA. He wrote most of the content and designed the layout. After the first several issues, which were hand-written or typewritten, the newspaper was typeset and printed by his father’s publishing company. Issues of the Gazette sold for one cent each. Keith Warren (1893-1987) was born in New Haven, CT and moved with his family to West Newton when his father’s publishing company merged with another in Boston. That company, the Warren Group, still publishes Banker and Tradesman News.
