In this speech, Du Bois excoriates the presidencies of Truman and Eisenhower for their political corruption and furtherance of imperialistic foreign relations. He bemoans the demonization of communists, monopolized industry, and a "prostitute press whoring after cash," all of which unduly impact the electoral process. Du Bois insists that progressives continue to strive to win over the American people, and particularly to insure that Progressive Party candidates are listed on state ballots in Ohio and Illinois.
