Letter from Joel and Barbara Halpern to his parents during their time in Laos with the United States Operations Mission. This letter is in the form of an interview conducted by Halpern's translator, Aram Udol. Udol interviewed a "Mr. Dore," a frenchman who was a benzoin merchant and resident in northern Laos for 30 years. Dore comments briefly about the different ethnic groups in Laos, their history, culture, relationships with one another, and with economic conditions.
