Letter from Joel M. Halpern to Nettie and Carl Halpern
Description:
Details the experience riding the train from Jajce to Sarajevo, the people they met along the way including a family of gypsies and the sites they saw. In Sarajevo, they marvelled at the train station, paid too much money for a room and breakfast at the hotel and went on to visit the Sarajevo Museum. They went site seeing with a man they met on the train, saw the market and ended up at a Bosnian film. The next day they took the train to Ljubovcici with the ethnologist from the museum and saw a Moslem peasant home for the first time, observed the village and the people. The length and condition of the train ride back to Belgrade is described as well as the people that they met along the way.
