The village of Kalambaka, located in Northern Thessaly, that lies in the shadows of giant rock towers of Metéora. Its first settlers were aesthetic monks who inhabited Metéora's caves as far back as the 9th century. They established monasteries and a village sometime between the 9th and 13th centuries. In this image, the rocky cliffs of the site are visible in the distance.
