Noting how "great and bitter" his disappointment was that Du Bois could not attend the nation's independence celebrations; consoling him with the knowledge that his name "was on almost every tongue" and that much headway was made with regard to the Pan-African Movement; praising the advice he gave in a letter to George Padmore; and hoping to all meet some day soon.
