Letter from Barbara Halpern to Nettie and Carl Halpern
Description:
Letter from Barbara Halpern to Joel M. Halpern's parents during time spent in Laos with the United States Operations Mission. This letter describes the domestic situation of having "their alley turned into a street": bulldozers, electricity poles put in, and other disturbances caused several problems in their house. She also mentions visiting Nam Tha (now Luang Namtha), and meeting Dr. Thomas A. Dooley. She describes the work he was doing with the Laotian people. The plane flight is discussed. The Halperns also visited a Black Tai (or Tai Dam) village peopled with recent refugees from North Vietnam.
