Letter written by Joel Halpern to his parents at the start of his trip to Europe in 1949. This letter is written on stationary from the Cunard White Star ship Samaria which is also famed for having carried the 506th Airborne Infantry Regiment (101st Airborne Division) during World War II to Europe before the D-Day invasions. This letter describes the beginning of his trip, from New York's Pennsylvania Station, through New England and Montreal, Canada to Quebec. He describes some time in the city of Quebec as well as the crossing from Quebec to London England. He describes passing the Isle of Wight and Dover.
