Louisa Gass tells her daughter Sadie Kessel that papa has left for his trip already. Louisa goes on to talk about recent happenings in town. She notes that Eva Essex, who had eaten too many peaches and gotten terribly ill, is finally on the mend. Louisa talks about her household chores and discusses they groceries she bought for the week. She lets Sadie know that their horse "Gypsy" aka "Gyp" is doing well. Mr. Findley used her to pick up some of his family, and dropped of peaches as a thank-you.
