A first-person narrative about a man who awakes from the dead in 2150 and encounters what is essentially a post-racial, pacifist, and socially equitable New York City, where the mayor is black, the neighborhoods are not segregated, the term "color line" is alien, and all human problems revolve around issues of art, faith, nature, illness, and other inherent vices to the human condition; and our protagonist dies again that very night, "but with a certain quiet content."
