Letter from Joel M. Halpern to Nettie and Carl Halpern
Description:
Letter from Joel Halpern to his parents during his trip to Europe in 1949. This letter describes a number of different places but is predominately about the area around Strasbourg in France. He also describes some of Cambrai and his arrival in Basel, Switzerland. He described the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Strasbourg as well has having seen mass in Cambrai. Halpern also describes the German town across the Rhine river from Strasbourg without naming it. Likely to be the town of Kehl, Germany. He explains that the town is still in very bad shape following damage from World War II.
