B. S. Greenwell begins his letter with sincere apologies for not writing sooner. He is now living in the San Joaquin Valley in California where it is flat and recently very rainy. Out his window he can see the peach trees which are in bloom and the wheat waving in the breeze . The Sierra Nevadas and Mt. Diablo of the Coast Range are covered in snow. The current rainy season makes him feel like a prisoner and worsens his health. His wages are such that he could easily continue his schooling, but he is not well enough to do so. He admits with some shame that he is taking a large amount of medicine.
