Description:
3-piece dress of green silk faille; fitted bodice (.1a) with high neckline and cream colored lace collar; long sleeves with bands of tucks and ruffles at cuffs; different lace ruff at cuffs with scalloped edge; covered button closure on front from neck to waist; hook & eye closure at waist; 3/4 length overskirt attached to bodice and gathered at waist, with apron front and back; drawn up at sides and puffed like panniers; hem of overskirt has knotted and tasseled green silk braid trim; brown muslin lining on bodice; sweat guards added later; full length gored skirt (.1b) gathered at back - would have been worn with a bustle; lined at top and bottom with glazed brown muslin; hook & eye closure on front; front side seam pocket; separate apron-like piece (.1c) of matching silk, with two bands of appliqué tucks/ piping and ruffled edging; 3-pointed leaf shape would have been worn to the back, with waist-band/ belt fastening on front with hook & eye. 1a: 48 x 13 (height includes fringe; width taken at waist); .1b: 38 1/2 x 12 (width taken at waist); .1c: 14 x 30 (full length of belt unfastened).
