Dean Rusk was the United States Secretary of State from 1961 1969. He elucidates the interests of the United States in Indochina following the Second World War, and the effects of the Korean War and Mao Zedongs victory in China on President Trumans attitude toward Communism in Asia. Mr. Rusk explains that while the U.S. was willing to work with Ho Chi Minh during World War Two, it was not willing to support him over the French.
