A framed oil painting on canvas by Samuel Adams Hudson (1813-1877). In the foreground are a large two-trunked tree and two men, one in a top hat, shown from behind standing beside a tree stump. The men are looking out over a valley with cows grazing and a large river winding throughout. In the far distance are a train and houses, with low rolling mountains behind. The painting is mounted in a period gilt frame. Verso of canvas (prior to lining) has inscription: "[View] of the Great Curve, near Newton Lower Falls, on B & W RR / and painted from nature for, and presented to, B. W. Hobart Esq. May 1852 / [by his] friend / Sam.l Adams Hudson / Worcester"
