Letter discusses Ronald's relationship with Carolyn, minesweeping, and daily life as a Marine in the Vietnam War. Ronald heard from his brother Lewis that he was shot and on his deathbed. Expresses anguish over hurting her in the past. The letter includes a poem called "Facing Combat," addressed to God asking Him to protect him and help him serve. Also included is one postcard and four devotional images (religious imagery) on small cards. Written on stationery that features a photograph image of a military tank and soldiers.
