Nine letters written by Union soldier William H. Hendrick while serving with Company K, 7th Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry mailed to his uncle Eben Fuller of Phoenix, R.I., and Worcester, Mass. The letters were written from locations like Tybee Island and Fort Clinch [both near Savannah]; Morris Island, S.C., and St Helena Island, S.C. The letters include detailed description Tybee Island, army life, and the shelling of Fort Wagner and Fort Sumter. William H. Hendrick, son of Horace and Maria F. (Fuller) Hendrick, was born 1840 in Thompson, Conn. He married 19 October 1868 in Worcester, Mass., to Mary L. Browning.
