Litchfield, of Scituate, Mass., describes establishment of minuteman company in Scituate, the reaction to the Lexington Alarm, and the guarding of the coast. Also chronicles day-to-day life. Includes biography on inside front cover and poem written by grandson Paul Brooks Merritt, circa 1833, that was printed on silk cloth and mounted on back cover.
