Journal kept by Thomas Cousins while a student at the West Newton English and Classical School (the "Allen School") 1867. Also includes a handful of correspondence to Cousins, dated 1876-1879. Journal page shown suggests that some members of the Allen family attended a dinner for Charles Dickens (in America on a book tour at the time) that was held in Newtonville.
