Circular letter to Friends opposing the paying of tithes. The holograph manuscript by Fox was mounted on linen and laid inside the rear boards of Moses Brown's copy of Fox's Journal or Historical Account of the Life... (London : W. Richardson and S. Clark, 1765). It is reproduced in that volume (p.499) with Brown's annotation noting that it is "in George's own handwriting." Franking on the manuscript in unknown 17th century hand reads "George Ffox to Ffriends concerning tythes" and in hand of Moses Brown regarding the provenance reads: "Entered and in his Journal pg 499. 5th 5th mo 1783 / Rec'd of Shubael Coffin who had it of Joseph Rowe of London as an original -- M.B."
