He has on a dark dress coat and bow tie with a serious expression on his face. Typed on the back of image reads: William R. Cole was born December 15, 1879 at North Andover, Mass. He attended the Massachusetts Agricultural College 1898-1900; Harvard Summer School, 1911; Columbia University Extension Courses, 1914-16. He taught at Deerfield Academy 1910-14, in the schools of Springfield, Mass. 1914-17, Essex County Agricultural School 1917-19. He was appointed Extension Specialist in Food Preservation at the Massachusetts Agricultural College in 1919, became Assistant Extension Professor of Horticultural Manufactures in 1920 and Extension Professor in 1926.
