Notes on a proposed debate between Du Bois and Faulkner, promoted by journalist Sidney Rogers on radio station KROW, San Francisco, over segregation and recent racially motivated tragedies including the murder of Emmett Till, the "Lucy affair", and the Negro parents in Ohio who "established a sit-down strike in the Superintendent's office to compel the acceptance of their children in a white school".
