Du Bois debunks the idea that the Soviet Union and the United States have diametrically opposed economic systems. He discusses the history of capitalism and socialism, drawing parallels between how the systems operate and pointing out that many countries, including the United States, have a blending of socialized and privatized industries. He warns against Big Business, whose interests he sees dominating the American government and press. Finally, he declares that the end of the Korean War represents an opportunity for true peace-making which would involve an ending to imperialism and exploitation of the workers of the world.
