Patchwork quilt with several colorful print cottons and cream colored cotton or linen; mostly small figure calico prints, with some plaid, checked, and striped fabrics (only one solid color - pink) cut in squares and pieced together to form diamond grid in Greek Cross pattern; handwritten inscriptions in ink at center of most of the squares (see complete list with worksheet); mostly handsewn, with machine stitched cream colored binding; allover quilting outlining crosses, square panels, and some stitching in between; lower corners cut out forming extra flap (allowed quilt to lie flat on 4 poster bed); backing material of cream colored linen or cotton; cotton batting. Quilt pattern also known as Court House Square (according to previous curator). Pattern identified as Chimney Sweep, and fabrics as cotton by MassQuilts. Height measurement below includes flap; width taken across top.
