The Auburndale Club formed in 1918 and was formally incorporated in 1920, likely by a group of World War I veterans, "for the promotion of social and friendly relations among the men of Auburndale and vicinity." By 1924, the club had well over 200 members. the Auburndale Club Players, a.k.a. the Auburndale Players or the Auburndale Review Club, performed several plays each year at their clubhouse at 283 Melrose Street in Auburndale (Newton), MA or at other locatoins. This collection includes the original charter of the Auburndale Club from 1920, a typed membership list from 1924, playbills from numerous productions by the Auburndale Club Players between 1923 and 1953 (including some duplicate playbills and a few that are undated), and photographs of performances and their cast members, as well as a photograph of attendees at a costume party at the club. According to a news article, the club sold its clubhouse building to Turtle Lane Playhouse in 1979.
