A. Leslie Harwood was a Newton lawyer 1908-1968. The papers in this collection reflect his research on the history of numerous properties in Newton. Included are title searches, plans, wills, genealogies, correspondence, and many handwritten notes summarizing the content of deeds and wills. Only 23 Newton properties are identified by street address; the rest of the files pertain to larger estates or unnumbered addresses and are identified only by the street name or the names of nearby streets. (Note that many, if not most, of the materials Harwood apparently consulted are now accessible online through the website of the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds.)
