<mods:abstract>Important, a procession of the retail tradesmen of Boston broadside. Dated August 26, 1862. This broadside calls on the retail tradesmen of Boston to rally on Franklin Street and form part of a citywide procession. The “Grand Demonstration on the Common” and parade of August 27, 1862, was held to promote the State and City’s efforts to recruit soldiers for the Civil War. This broadside was created by the Committee of One Hundred and Fifty Citizens, a group of citizens appointed by the citizens of Boston to help lead the Commonwealth’s war efforts. Imprint at bottom of the broadside reads, “M. H. Keenan, Card and Job Printer, 104 Washington Street.”</mods:abstract>
